SCA offers
consultation services to family child care
providers, whether new to the child care
business or experienced providers seeking
assistance. We will meet with you and answer any
questions you may have relating to rates,
contracts, parent issues, health & safety,
advertising, marketing strategies, expenses,
employees, etc. This scheduled time is devoted
strictly to assessing and managing your

Assessment
I will come
to your child care program, do an assessment and
make suggestions and recommendations to enhance
your environment, if needed. An
environment consists of two main areas, one
quiet and cozy, the other for free-play
activities and noise. A nurturing environment
should include age / developmentally appropriate
toys, books, puzzles, activities, themed areas,
cultural diversity, small and large motor skill
activities and early literacy materials (art,
math, science, language, music, etc.). Health
and safety guidelines and regulations should

 The Professional Provider 
SCA also
offers family child care providers the
opportunity to develop a professional image by
reading “The
Professional Provider”. This book
provides valuable information to family child
care providers about self image, good health,
retirement information, tax issues, professional
growth development, insurance protection,
business start-up, marketing ideas, contracts,
etc. Learn firsthand the strategies and
techniques that providers experience and use
daily to operate a child care business. Know the
types of relationships to have with
families enrolled in your program. Make record
